Who we are
Worcester Street Kitchen is a registered charity helping to feed the homeless and vulnerable in Worcester.
Anyone who needs a meal can come along for a food service.
Worcester Street Kitchen (fondly know as WSK - pronounced ‘whisk’) makes sure that people who haven’t got access to adequate cooking facilities can get a nutritious well-cooked meal and a lunch pack to see them through the next day.
We serve from the Salvation Army premises, The Trinity, in the centre of Worcester. At present we serve food at 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday with the Salvation Army providing a similar service on Fridays.
Most of the time those we serve collect their meal from our kitchen and either eat it in the yard or take it away to eat somewhere else. We also hand out any surplus food we have that has to be used that day.
Once a month we get a bigger than normal team of volunteers together and organise an ‘eat-in’ evening.
Using the Salvation Army’s hall, we lay tables the way we would at home. Our guests come in before service and in the warm and dry can take the weight off their feet, have a hot drink, and socialise with each other and with our wonderful team.
We feed around
60 people at each service.
Because of our fantastic volunteers and local businesses who donate food, we manage to provide a hot meal and lunch bag for the next day for only 50 pence. But:
You can help us improve and
continue this service.
WSK was registered as a charity at the beginning of October 2025. We’re small right now but aiming to grow our army of volunteers so that we can serve more days each week and have ‘eat-in’ service more of the time.
You can help us improve as well as just continue this service. A small donation can make a big difference Our guests have a lot less than most of us do. A small thing to us can be a very big thing to them.
Help us overcome our challenges
We only offer the service 4 days a week
Our guests have to eat the meal standing in the open, even when it’s cold and wet because we don’t have the facilities to offer a meal indoors
We’re grateful to be able to work from the Salvation Army’s kitchen – without this, we couldn’t offer a service at all. But the kitchen is very small and is not designed to feed and serve a meal for 60 people
The Salvation Army can’t offer the storage facilities which would help us make the best use of the food we are given to support those in Worcester to need a hand.
