Worcester Street Kitchen
Where those in need join us to enjoy a meal at no cost.
Worcester Street Kitchen makes sure that people who haven’t got access to adequate cooking facilities can get a nutritious well-cooked meal and a lunch pack to see them through the next day. Anyone who needs a meal can come along for a food service.
We feed around 60 people at each service because of our fantastic volunteers and local businesses who donate food.
We serve from the Salvation Army premises, The Trinity, in the centre of Worcester. At present we serve food at 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday (the Salvation Army provide a similar service on Fridays). Most of the time those we serve collect their meal from our kitchen and either eat it in the yard or take it away to eat somewhere else. We also hand out a free lunch-bag for the next day.
Once a month we get a bigger than normal team of volunteers together and organise an ‘eat-in’ evening. Using the Salvation Army’s hall, we lay tables the way we would at home. Our guests come in before service and in the warm and dry can take the weight off their feet, have a hot drink, and socialise with each other and with our wonderful team.
